On April 29th, members of the Charlotte community came together to express appreciation to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office for the selfless way these frontline workers have been supporting their community through the COVID-19 crisis. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office have been helping the school district and Second Harvest food bank make daily meal deliveries to displaced children and families since mid-March.
So as a way of showing their gratitude, two churches, a nonprofit, one local business, and a handful of individuals and families worked together to provide pizza for all 800+ deputies working at seven locations across the region. The group utilized a locally-owned pizza chain that had been hit hard by the recent “stay-at-home” order to provide the food. What a beautiful picture of the Charlotte strong community in action!
